MUSICAL EDUCATION - BAGPIPES
January 1993 - Started learning under Pipe Major Eric Johnson of the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment.
January 1995 - Light music instruction from Pipe Major Alister R. MacDonald, former PM of The Pipes
and Drums of Thunder Bay.
February 1997 - Attended a National Pipes and Drums Seminar at the Canadian Forces Music Centre
with guest lecturers Pipe Major Alasdair Gillies and Drum Major Neil Nairne from the Scottish Division Music Depot, Milton
Bridge, Scotland, CFB Borden, ON, February 24 28 1997.
March 1997 Completed QL3 Musician 871 (Piper) Qualification at the Canadian Forces Music Center- Borden Detachment.
August 1997 Began piobaireachd instruction from Pipe Major Kenneth MacLeod, ex-Lovat Scouts (Territorial Army).
June 2001 Completed QL4 Musician 871 (Piper) Qualification at Music Training Company, Canadian Forces School
of Administration and Logistics, CFB Borden ON
Fall 2001 Began tuition with Mr. Jack Lee (Pipe Sergeant of the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band) of Surrey,
BC for piobaireachd and light music.
EXPERIENCE:
Piper in the Park - Patterson Park, Thunder Bay (August 1995, 1997, 1998) - gave hour-long performances in
the south-core of Thunder Bay. (funded by Tourism Thunder Bay).
1996 Edinburgh Military Tattoo (August 1996) - attached to the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Canadian
Regiment Pipes and Drums under PM/ MWO Ian Ferguson, as a piper in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Edinburgh, Scotland.
Primary Piping Instructor, The Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay (September 1998-January 2000).
Pipe-Sgt./Quartermaster, The Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay (October 1998 March 2000).
Vice-President, The Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay (October1999 March 2000).
Summer 2000 Employed as a piper in the Band of the Ceremonial Guard, Ottawa ON
Successful solo competitor since 1995 - currently at Grade One level.
Lake Superior Scottish Regiment (Primary Reserve) 1995-2004. Regimental Piper.
Elected as Pipe-Corporal of The MacGillivray Pipe Band of Thunder Bay and commenced teaching duties within
the band - September 2004
